1:1 Parent Consultation
Frequently asked questions
What ages can you consult for?
Our expertise is primarily with children ages 2-23. If you have a question regarding an age outside of this range, please contact us either by phone or by email.
My child is already receiving occupational therapy, can I still purchase a consultation package?
Yes, but please keep in mind- this call is not considered an OT session. We cannot speak on behalf of other professionals/ their approach to your child’s therapy and highly recommend speaking with your child’s occupational therapist first.
Do you accept insurance for consultations?
No. Consultation services are not considered a healthcare service or occupational therapy session. Therefore, these calls will not be covered under insurance.
Can you diagnose my child with sensory processing disorder or autism?
No. These consultation services are strictly between the parent/ caregiver(s) and a staff member of OTNE. We will not assess your child. We can tell you if we believe your child could benefit from further in person occupational therapy or other professional services.
Can you take international clients?
Yes! Because these consultations are conducted virtually and are not covered by insurance, this gives us the opportunity to work with parents/ caregivers all over the world!
How do I decide between 1 call or 3 calls?
This depends on how many behaviors, scenarios, or questions you want to consult about.
The Single Q & A package is typically for those “why” questions or for seeking general information about an area of concern (ie. sensory processing, emotional regulation, transitions, “should my child see an OT/ other professional?”, etc.).
The Triplet package is recommended for individuals experiencing a specific behavior or set of behaviors. With these calls, we can typically make suggestions for sensory strategies or specialized home programs to try. Follow up calls will also allow us to examine how behaviors are progressing, see what is helping, and make adjustments as needed.
We will spend the first half of all of our calls with a discussion of your child’s behaviors, strategies you have tried in the past, and obtaining necessary background information. Then, we will spend the remainder of our time providing you with education based on the information you have provided. Following our call, you will receive a video recording of the consultation along with educational materials related to our discussion.
